Hasell Future Uncertain but Selsdon Finish Season With Seven in a Row

Selsdon went into Saturday’s final game of the season with a cloud of uncertainty over the future of player-manager Ian Hasell and the club in general. The English press had reported on Saturday morning that Hasell would not be offered an extension to his contract when it expires this summer following an indifferent season for Sels. Despite a late rally that had seen his side take a maximum 18 points from six games, any title hopes had long faded and chairman Paul Burns seems reluctant to allow Hasell to spend more of the club’s money, hinting that he himself may step away from the side next season as talk of an MK Dons type buy out refuses to go away.

Kings Catford 1-14 SBCFC

With Joe Norris, Jamie Evans and James Wickes returning from injury and new signing Andrew Ricketts available for selection, Selsdon made the trip to Catford with a strong squad and in confident mood.

Despite the groundsman’s best efforts, the match overcame a late pitch inspection and was given the go ahead when referee Steve Hunt agreed to play the game despite the absence of nets. If ever nets were needed this was the occasion…
